Jacks or Better Video Poker
Rules & Scoring

Jacks or better video poker starts out with a newly shuffled deck. Initially you are dealt 5 cards face up. You get to keep the cards you like and discard the cards you don't like. To keep the cards just click on the checkbox under the card. Then click the" deal hand" button and new cards will replace the discarded ones. At this point, your hand will be evaluated and you will be credited accordingly. We will discuss the credits as the hands are discussed.

First, I will discuss the rank of the hands and then I will talk about how the payouts and credits work.

Betting and Payouts

Here is how the betting works. Lets say you start with 1000 credits. Then you bet 5 credits on the hand. You spend 5 credits to bet so before the cards are even dealt you end up with 995 credits. Then suppose you get 3 of a kind. You win 3:1.

For every one credit you bet you get 3 credits - (3:1). You bet 5 credits and and 5 x 3 = 15 and you end up with 15 credits. So add the 15 credits to your 995 credits and you end up with 1010 credits.
